Discover Ozëry through three clearly distinct themes: the exhibitions at the local history museum, two parks with different attractions, and the one-day “Drevnerusskaya Oka” route. This lets you plan your trip around your interest in history, leisure activities or a day itinerary of your own. When planning, the route’s time frame and the parks’ specific facilities and cultural offerings are particularly useful to know.

History at the Ozëry Local History Museum

One exhibition features artifacts relating to the history of the medieval settlement of Rostislavl Ryazanskiy. It was founded on the banks of the Oka in the 12th century and was probably abandoned in the 17th century. The settlement was near the site of what would later become Ozëry. The museum therefore also explores the history of a distinct medieval settlement near the later-established town.

One room of the local history museum is devoted to the region’s military history and displays documents, photographs and personal belongings of soldiers. A separate exhibition covers the life and work of the writer Dmitri Grigorovich. Together, the topics span the history of a medieval settlement, regional military history and literature.

Ozëry’s economic and textile history is also represented. The exhibition covers the paper-weaving and textile industries that emerged in the 19th century, including the “Tovarishchestvo Shcherbakova i synovey” manufactory and the factories of Morgunov and Karyakin. After the 1917 Revolution, these factories became part of the “Rabochiy” textile and cotton combine. The town’s history therefore encompasses both the industrial enterprises and their later merger.

Parks with different attractions

“Sosnovyy bor” Park is not yet complete, but it is already open to visitors. Its facilities include children’s and play areas, pavilions, art installations and covered seating areas with benches and swings. There are also cycle paths and a dog exercise area. As conditions may change, it is advisable to check the latest information before visiting.

“Dubki” Culture and Recreation Park offers sports and play facilities, including a ski roller track. It also has a stage for cultural events and a planted maze surrounding the “Kamen zhelaniy” (Wishing Stone). The park hosts themed events, play programs and larger celebrations. In addition to sports and play, visitors can enjoy cultural activities and events here.

The “Drevnerusskaya Oka” Route

The route starts at Ozëry’s town beach. It takes one day and is suitable for participants with no prior experience. This makes it a standalone day activity with a specified starting point and a clear time frame. If you are choosing between the route and a visit to a park, this distinction is useful: the route is listed as a full-day activity, while at the parks you can plan around their respective facilities and cultural offerings.
